Noah Lyles comments on Letsile Tebogo's form this season & breaking 300m world record

American sprint icon Noah Lyles has disclosed that he usually keeps tabs on his competitors including Erriyon Knighton and Letsile Tebogo to know what they are up to.

The two-time World 200m champion noted that he does not follow up on their lifestyles to learn their secret hacks to success but he just usually wants to know what they are.

He explained that some competitors love doing their things on the low, something he has no problem with since he cannot find out what everyone is doing.

“I like to keep my tabs on everybody and find out what they are doing even if they haven’t run for a while, I always just say ‘Okay let me see what you’re doing, alright cool, have fun’.

“It’s not like I’m always trying to find out what their secret weapon is but just to see what they are doing,” Lyles told Letsrun.com in a podcast.

Lyles added that he was aware of the chances of Tebogo breaking the record since he has great endurance but he has to work on his 100m speed if he has to do well over the distance.

Observing him at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, Lyles admitted that Tebogo has a lot of potential and that if he works on it, he will be a force to reckon with.

“I think it’s kind of a real situation where I already knew he was good at his endurance…that’s not the thing that I believe is going to be his greatest improvement.

“I think his greatest improvement is going to be in the 100m…the faster his 100m gets, I guess the faster his overall ability is going to dramatically improve. It’s similar to how my career kind of is.

“Looking at him at World’s I think he has the talent and the ability to get stronger and as he gets older, he should be able to get stronger. He is very purposeful with his strength and if he maintains that, then he will be a force to threaten us,” Lyles said.

Lyles also insisted that Tebogo’s top end speed is not like his and the 20-year-old has a lot to work on to get to his level. He admitted that Tebogo has put together many great races and is a lot more consistent.
