‘No wonder we don’t win anything’ — Fans slam conditions in Super Eagles Uyo training camp
The Super Eagles training camp in Uyo has come under fire after fans expressed outrage over the substandard conditions ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Nigeria set for AFCON qualifier
The camp officially opened on Monday, with 7 players confirmed on Monday as the Super Eagles prepare for crucial AFCON 2025 qualifiers against the Benin Republic and Rwanda.
Nigeria will face neighbours Benin first at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo in their opening AFCON 2025 qualifier before travelling to Kigali to face Rwanda.
The camp saw 20 players training on Tuesday ahead of the match against Benin with more players, including new Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen, who is expected to arrive on Thursday.
As the players prepare to face Benin, a video from the camp, where the Nigerian team is preparing to face Benin and Rwanda, angered fans.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria deserve a proper training camp 🏕️.
What’s this now? 🤦🏿 pic.twitter.com/PGWURcb86h
Players were seen doing their stretches on training mats placed on hard concrete, sparking concerns over potential injuries and a lack of professionalism, with many fans taking to social media to express their dissatisfaction.
Some fans on X even suggested that the poor facilities might be a major reason why some talented Nigerian players with dual nationality choose to represent other countries instead of the Super Eagles.
How tf do we intend to win matches with this environment? Don’t they know environment also plays a role in football https://t.co/0K4pEBhSBs

And that’s why when a Nigerian decides to choose another country to play for, leave them alone and let them make the decision without guilt tripping them. They know what they are doing. They didn’t come to suffer and tolerate rubbish and nonsense like this.

Honestly, I don't expect much from them. You can't give what you don't have. We can blame the coaches all we want but even Pep Guardiola can't work his magic with a camp like this.
