No going back! Pep Guardiola and estranged wife Cristina Serra close to finalizing $126 MILLION divorce

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is reportedly on the verge of finalising his divorce from his estranged wife, Cristina Serra. 

The highly-decorated coach is poised to part with half of his $126 million fortune.

Guardiola and Cristina’s 30-year relationship has reportedly taken a turn for the worse.

Despite earlier reports that the couple were determined to give their marriage another chance, Spanish journalist Laura Fa, who initially broke the story of their split, has starkly stated as reported by Daily Mail, "The signing of this divorce is going to be imminent. Evidently their relationship sentimentally has come to an end."

This new development has also intensified fears that Guardiola's personal turmoil could cast a shadow over Manchester City's upcoming season.

The couple's separation appears to have been a gradual process, exacerbated by Cristina's struggles to settle in Manchester, leading to her return to Spain five years ago.

It has been claimed that Guardiola's decision to sign a new contract with Manchester City in December, was "the last straw" for Cristina. 

As mentioned earlier, a glimmer of hope for reconciliation emerged in April when the couple reportedly spent three days together at their former Barcelona marital home over Easter, attempting to give their marriage a "second chance."

However, this hope was swiftly extinguished by Spanish showbiz reporters Lorena Vasquez and Laura Fa, known as the Mamarazzis, who debunked the possibility of a fresh start. 

Vasquez, on a Spanish TV show in February, reiterated that divorce proceedings were underway and were initially "amicable" due to the couple using the same lawyer, further linking the split to Guardiola's contract renewal.

The financial implications of this divorce are massive, with Cristina Serra potentially entitled to half of Pep Guardiola’s considerable wealth.

Guardiola's estimated net worth of $126 million means a multi-million pound settlement is on the cards. 

In Spain, the distribution of assets in a divorce is heavily influenced by the matrimonial property regime chosen by the couple. 

Should their marriage fall under the ‘Sociedad de Gananciales’ regime, all assets acquired during their union, including Guardiola's substantial earnings and properties, could be subject to equal division. 

The news of the impending divorce, which first surfaced in January, coincides with what has been described as Guardiola's worst slump as Manchester City's manager. 

Guardiola and Cristina recently attended an Oasis concert in Heaton Park with their two children, Maria, 24, and Marius, 22.
