The Super Falcons of Nigeria are set to battle the Banyana Banyana of South Africa in the semifinal at the Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

Nigeria, with a record 11 WAFCON titles, faces South Africa, who claimed their first title in 2022.

Both teams have showcased strong performances to reach the semifinal of the WAFCON.

Nigeria topped Group B with a robust defensive record, while South Africa navigated a competitive Group C path.

Nigeria kicked off their campaign with a commanding 3-0 win against Tunisia.

The team led by Justin Madugu followed with a 1-0 victory over Botswana, and wrapped up the group stage with a 0-0 draw against Algeria.

In the quarterfinals, they delivered a resounding 5-0 thrashing of Zambia.

Their defense has been exceptional, conceding zero goals in the group stage, with goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie keeping multiple clean sheets.

South Africa began the tournament with a 2-0 win over Ghana.

The Banyana Banyana followed by a 1-1 draw against Tanzania, and concluded the group stage with a dominant 4-0 victory over Mali.

In the quarterfinals, after a goalless draw in regulation and extra time they edged Senegal 4-1 on penalties.

The WAFCON semifinal between Nigeria and South Africa will be played on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.

The match will kick off at 5 PM Nigerian time and be broadcast live on SuperSport (DStv) across Sub-Saharan Africa and on SABC Sport.
