Atalanta BC forward Ademola Lookman will leave Akwa Ibom richer than he arrived after a brilliant outing for Nigeria.
Lookman was one of the stars of the day as Nigeria Super Eagles and their counters from Sao Tome and Principe delivered a six-goal thriller to fans at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
Nigeria demolished Sao Tome 6-0 to end the AFCONQ2023 in superb style on Sunday.
Lookman impresses for Nigeria
The 25-year-old put on a show to help the Super Eagles to a convincing finish to the qualifiers.
Lookman, who started and finished the match in Uyo, contributed two of the goals for the rampant Super Eagles.
He set up the opener for SSC Napoli superstar Victor Osimhen before he scored a solo effort just before the half-hour mark to double the lead.
Lookman’s goal was his second for Nigeria, with the first also against the Falcons and True Parrots in that historic 10-0 clash.
33 rewards Lookman
After the game, the Serie A-based star was named man of the match which attracted a N1 million reward from one of the team’s sponsors, 33 Lager.
During his time on the pitch, Lookman created four chances, made three key passes and attempted just one shot which led to his goal.
He also had 58 touches and helped the Super Eagles maintain their dominance on the ball with 84 per cent of his passes completed.
