Nigeria 6-0 Sao Tome: Osimhen gets N1m for MVP after ruthless display in AFCONQ

Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen has been rewarded for his excellent performance against Sao Tome and Principe in the AFCONQ 2023.

Osimhen was named the most valuable player of the day after he inspired Nigeria to a comprehensive 6-0 win over Sao Tome on Sunday evening. 

The Napoli star was at his ruthless best after he scored a hat-trick to help Nigeria Super Eagles end the AFCON qualifiers on a high. 

It was another Osimhen show against the Falcons and True Parrots in the AFCON qualifiers.

The Falcons must hate the sight of the Serie A’s best striker following another goal-fest against Nigeria.

Nigeria went on a rampage as the Super Eagles finished the qualifiers in style with Osimhen decisive again.

The 24-year-old scored one goal in the first half and added two more in the second to help Nigeria finish as Group B winners and AFCONQ’s top scorers.

Osimhen’s display against the Falcons earned him not just the match ball but also the huge prize.

After the game, the former Lille star was named the most valuable player of the game by one of the team’s sponsors, MTN. 

MTN went on to reward Osimhen with a huge prize of N 1 million for his performance.

The goals in Uyo ensured Osimhen finished as AFCONQ's top scorer with 10 goals, seven of them coming in two matches against the Treu Parrots.
