Nigeria vs B/Faso: Motivated Stallions banking on 'teamwork' to shock Golden Eaglets
The panthers of Burkina Faso will face Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets in a decisive quarterfinal clash at the U17 AFCON later today.
According to their coach, Brahima Traore, the junior Stallions will take on their familiar foes hoping that teamwork can lead them past the Eaglets.
Traore made his clear during his pre-match press conference ahead of the all-important clash between the two.
Burkina Faso target win vs Eaglets
The game on Thursday night will be a repeat of the WAFU Zone B qualification involving both teams.
Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets emerged 2-1 winners on that occasion, but coach Traore, who expects his team to be calm, says this particular fixture is different this time when they lock horns in Algiers.
“We go into the match with calmness but the enthusiasm to do well and achieve qualification to the World Cup,” Traore told CAF Online.
“But, I have insisted with the players that we have to play together as a team and not individually. We want to achieve collectively as a team.”
“Both teams have changed and most of the players who played then are not in the team. It will be a different match and definitely tougher.”
Speaking further on the game, Traore added that his team respects Nigeria a lot but will not let that get into their heads as they are ready to play to win.
"Our first goal is to reach the semi-finals and qualify for the World Cup, and we will do everything in our power to achieve it,” he added.
“Our second goal is to take the trophy to our country and win the title for the second time.”
