It was a cagey affair lacking adventure from the attacking players.

Both sides defended well with very little chances created to start the game.

However, just before the halftime break Nigeria were awarded a penalty.

Captain Rasheedat Ajibade stepped up to convert the spot kick to give Nigeria the lead.

In the second half, South Africa showed urgency, and after Osinachi Ohale committed a foul in the box, they were awarded a penalty/

Linda Motlhalo stepped up to score past Chiamaka Nnadozie in the 60th minute to level the score.

The equalizer from South Africa forced head coach Justin Madugu to make some changes.

He brought on Christy Ucheibe for Jennifer Echegini and Deborah Abiodun for Halimatu Ayinde.

It became a back and forth affair as the Super Falcons and South Africa had chances.

The breakthrough would come late in additional time when Esther Okoronkwo found Michelle Alozie who rocketed a cross from deep into the net.

The Super Falcons would hold on to their late advantage to secure the win in regulation time.

The result means the Super Falcons advanced to the WAFCON final in search of their 10th title.
