Newcastle 4-1 Chelsea: Magpies bring Pochettino's Blues back to earth

After rescuing a point in a pulsating draw against reigning Premier League Champions Manchester City, Chelsea were hoping they had turned the corner on a poor start to the season, but were returned to reality with a humiliating 4-1 loss to Newcastle at St. James' Park

Chelsea were dismal against the Magpies as they fell to their fifth defeat of the 2023/24 season against a rejuvenated Newcastle side, looking to put recent losses against Bournemouth and Borussia Dortmund behind them. 

Raheem Sterling scored a brilliant freekick for the Blues, but it turned out to be nothing more than a consolation, as goals from Alexander Isak, Jamaal Lascelles, Joelinton, and Anthony Gordon helped the home side to a comfortable win over Chelsea, who also suffered the ignominy of having captain Reece James sent off.
