Mikel Obi is forgiven by Ferguson
According to Obi, he has been forgiven by former Manchester United coach Sir Alex Ferguson.
Coming off the 2005 Under-17 FIFA World Cup with Nigeria, Mikel was one of the best young football prospects in the World.
When Sir Alex Ferguson said he didn't intend to sign with Manchester United and instead wanted to play for Chelsea, Mikel saw his rage.
The former Blues player was involved in an absurd transfer story when he first chose to join United then deciding to join their Premier League opponents.
When Mikel was younger, he briefly trained at United with Roy Keane, Paul Scholes, and Nicky Butt. In 2005, he signed a pre-contract agreement with the team to leave Norwegian side Lyn.
He even donned their home uniform for a press conference that he attended.
Chelsea had sent him to Lyn, and they intervened to finalize a transaction in 2006 upon realizing he had ostensibly joined United.
Despite the favorable treatment he received from Ferguson and a few players during his tour, Mikel signed with the Londoners.
Years later, Mikel disclosed on his podcast that he was terrified to see Ferguson on the touchline during Chelsea's match against Manchester United.
And the retiring Scottish manager had a terrible expression on his face when they finally met.
But Mikel just disclosed on social media that he shared a photo of himself with Ferguson.
Obi was a star attraction as Real Madrid beat Borussia Dortmund to win the 2024 UEFA Champions League at Wembley Stadium.
