Messi vs Ronaldo: Premier League icon makes controversial call in greatest players ranking
Sergio Aguero has named the four players he considers greater than Cristiano Ronaldo.
Aguero's importance in Manchester City's recent Premier League dominance is undeniable.
The Argentinian striker led the line for the Cityzens, securing five titles with 184 goals in 275 games (260 in 390 in all competitions).
Aguero was forced to retire due to a heart problem in August 2022, missing Argentina's World Cup victory later that year.
He celebrated that triumph in Qatar alongside Lionel Messi, a close ally he considers football's all-time greatest player.

Aguero's top four: Messi included, Ronaldo snubbed
In a Q&A with UEFA in 2015, Aguero revealed the four players he rates above Portugal international Ronaldo.
Unsurprisingly, Messi is among them. Aguero has a well-documented friendship with the Inter Miami captain, frequently praising his dribbling, finishing and playmaking abilities.
Aguero also included Ronaldo Nazario, acknowledging the Brazilian striker's influence. Aguero highlighted Ronaldo's speed, skill as a number nine and clinical finishing.
“The player I looked at in terms of my own play and who influenced me most is the Brazilian Ronaldo,” said the former Man City striker in 2015.
Ronaldinho, celebrated for his entertaining style and technical skill, was another choice.
Aguero recognised Ronaldinho's significant achievements and his impact on the game.
The fourth player was Diego Maradona, a revered figure in Argentinian football.
Aguero emphasised Maradona's creativity and attacking genius, explaining why comparisons are often drawn between him and Messi.
The retired forward then mentioned that he holds Cristiano Ronaldo in high regard, but the aforementioned four players represent the icons who most inspired and impressed him throughout his career.
