Mbale Heroes-Admin saga: Why the Eastern Regional League has been suspended
The Eastern Regional League has been suspended until the ongoing impasse between Admin and Mbale Heroes is sorted.
Both sides have been pointing fingers at each other, accusing themselves of match-fixing in a spiralling situation that almost took the life of the Busia Municipality mayor last week.
The highly-awaited top-of-the-table clash between the two clubs that had been scheduled to take place on Saturday was called off at the last moment after FUFA officials ordered referee George Olemu off the match.
As it stands, Admin lead the table with 50 points, one ahead of Busia Youngsters and three above Mbale Heroes with two games to go.
Suspended
The chairman competitions committee of the region Isaac Mpaaso told Pulse Sports that they were forced to call off the remaining games until the said game was played.
“We want this game to be played before the other games are played because it has an implication on promotion,” Mpaaso explained.
“We’re going to have a meeting with the executive committee to iron out some issues because, as it looks, the leadership is also disorganized.
“We also have people in the leadership who are taking sides which we need to sort and speak with one voice,” he added.
