Mason Greenwood shows Man United what they are missing after double on Marseille debut
Mason Greenwood, the former Manchester United forward, made an impressive start to his Olympique Marseille career, scoring twice on his Ligue 1 debut as his new club cruised to a 5-1 victory over Brest in their season opener on Saturday.
The 22-year-old English striker, who joined Marseille in a high-profile move from Manchester United, wasted no time in making his mark at the Stade Vélodrome.
Greenwood who broke Getafe's heart with the move to France broke the deadlock with a spectacular opener before confidently converting a penalty to give Marseille a comfortable 2-0 lead.
Luis Henrique extended Marseille's advantage to 3-0 before Brest managed to pull one back before halftime.
However, any hopes of a comeback were quickly extinguished as Henrique netted his second of the match in the second half before Greenwood won the PK that led to the fifth goal, sealing a convincing victory for the home side.

Greenwood to Marseille
Greenwood's transfer to Marseille has been one of the most talked-about moves of the summer following an acrimonious departure from the Red Devils after his domestic issues in England.
The forward, who made 129 appearances and scored 35 goals for Manchester United since his debut in 2019, became Marseille's marquee signing, filling the void left by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's departure. He was handed the prestigious number 10 shirt, previously worn by the former Arsenal captain.
The transfer fee for Greenwood made him Manchester United's fourth most-expensive signing in history, behind only Cristiano Ronaldo, Romelu Lukaku, and Angel Di Maria.
This significant investment appears to be paying immediate dividends for Marseille, as Greenwood's debut performance has already excited fans.
Marseille's decision to sign Greenwood, despite his controversial exit from Manchester United, seems to be a calculated risk that could potentially revitalise the young striker's career.
His stellar debut suggests that he is determined to make the most of this fresh start in French football.
As Marseille look to challenge for honours in Ligue 1 this season under Roberto De Zerbi, Greenwood's explosive start will undoubtedly boost the team's confidence. If he can maintain this form, the English forward could quickly become a fan favourite and a key player in Marseille's ambitions for the 2024/25 campaign.
