Mason Greenwood is innocent — Getafe not interested in investigation of Man United youngster
Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood looks set to restart his career at LALIGA side Getafe following the latest statement from the club.
Getafe have defended their decision to take Greenwood on a season-long deal despite calls to send the forward back to Old Trafford.
The LALIGA club has been in the news for days after a deadline day move to take the 21-year-old on loan.
Getafe remains adamant
According to a report by the Athletic, the LALIGA club has explained their decision to take Greenwood on loan.
The club has made it clear that the forward is innocent and remains a huge talent with potential.
“We do not want to enter the investigation,” the club stated. "This guy has been declared innocent, judged, he is innocent like you or me. The moment we see that he is innocent we have no more to say.”
Greenwood to Getafe
Manchester United youngster Greenwood finally found a place to call home after a loan move to LALIGA side Getafe.
Greenwood joined the Spanish side on deadline day with both United and the Spanish side taking to social media to confirm the deal.
The 21-year-old was out of action for over a year after he was arrested and detained on suspicion of sexual and physical assault against his partner, Harriet Robson.
The forward was charged with attempted rape, assault, and controlling/coercive behaviour after clips and pictures were posted online by his girlfriend.
But in February this year, the charges were dropped after the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), with United keeping him out of action for a further six months due to an internal investigation.
After so much delay, Greenwood will move on with his life and relaunch his career with Getafe despite calls by a domestic abuse foundation in Spain to send the youngster back to Old Trafford.
