Manchester City, Chelsea Owners Lead European Giants in Race for Gor Mahia Talent
Manchester City's parent company, the City Football Group (CFG), is reportedly leading a competitive race to sign highly-regarded Kenyan prospect Paul Ochuoga, sources have revealed.
The 21-year-old full-back, who currently plays for Kenyan Premier League leaders Gor Mahia, has attracted significant attention from European scouts following his impressive performances in last season's CAF Champions League.
Paul Ochuoga’s energetic, all-action displays from the flank have made him a key player for the Nairobi-based club.
Sources confirm that CFG is now at the forefront of the chase and is actively developing a plan to bring Ochuoga to Europe this summer.
The group's extensive multi-club network is seen as an ideal pathway for emerging talent, with discussions already underway to determine the best initial club for his development.
Within the CFG network, Spanish side Girona and Italian club Palermo are being considered as potential first destinations, which would provide Paul Ochuoga a platform to acclimate to European football.
Widespread Interest from Top European Networks
However, CFG faces stiff competition. Paul Ochuoga's progress has also been closely monitored by Premier League clubs Brighton and Brentford, both known for their robust and effective scouting operations across Africa.
Furthermore, Chelsea's ownership group, BlueCo, and the Red Bull football network have also been tracking the young defender's development, highlighting the intense battle for his signature.
Despite Ochuoga signing a new contract with Gor Mahia earlier this year, the Kenyan club is anticipating offers and is expected to capitalise on the growing interest in their rising star.
There is a growing belief that he possesses the talent to be fast-tracked into one of Europe's top leagues as soon as next season.
While CFG's early efforts may give them an advantage, the involvement of several elite recruitment networks suggests the pursuit of Ochuoga will be a compelling transfer saga to watch this summer.
