Manchester City's Pep Guardiola has commented on the appointment of former Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou by Tottenham.

Spurs announced the 57-year-old as their next manager today. He becomes their first permanent manager since the sacking of Antonio Conte mid-season after Cristian Stellini and Ryan Mason held the role on an interim basis.  

What Guardiola said 

The Manchester City boss was asked for his opinion on the appointment in a press conference today, and he was full of praise for the Australian.

Pep believes Postecoglou is a brilliant manager and seemed glad that another top coach had entered the Premier League. 

He revealed that he has had a previous encounter with him, as Ange was previously a manager at Yokohama FC, a club that is part of the City group. 

The Spaniard threw a joke in, saying he hoped they are able able to score against Tottenham away from home under the reign of the former Socceroos boss.

“Absolutely, another exceptional manager is coming,” he said, per Standard.co.uk.

“I was lucky to meet him in Toyko years ago when he was the manager of Yokohama, one of the clubs in CFG [City Football Group]. It was an interesting chat. At Celtic, he did an incredible job.

“Hopefully we can score one goal away.”
