At Chase Stadium, Lionel Messi helped Inter Miami CF defeated Sporting Kansas City 3-1 (4-1 aggregate) to secure their place in the Concacaf Champions Cup Round of 16.

Goals from Messi, Tadeo Allende, and Luis Suárez secured a matchup with Jamaican team Cavalier FC in the continental tournament early next month.
In the 19th minute, the Argentine No. 10 opened the scoring with a classic goal.
After chesting down a precise cross from Suárez he was able to send a left-footed blast past goalie John Pulskamp.
Dejan Joveljić gave Sporting the best chance to tie the score, but Allende and Suárez gave the home team two goals in stoppage time in the first half.
Miami took care of business to advance in CCC play, and Memo RodrÃguez's deflected long-range goal in the second half was little more than a consolation for Kansas City given those totals.
