Iheanacho was named the winner of the award through a statement on the club’s website on Thursday.

“Nigeria international wins the POTS prize after netting eight goals for the Foxes over the course of the past season, including strikes in wins over Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur and Wolverhampton Wanderers,” the club stated.

The 26-year-old enjoyed a good season for the Foxes with eight goals scored across competitions for the club.

Iheanacho netted five goals and assisted five more in 11 starts last season in the Premier League.

While Iheanacho has been crowned the Fox of the year, he will be playing Championship football next season at the King Power Stadium.

Leicester were relegated from the Premier League eight years after winning the league.

The Foxes defeated West Ham United in their final game of the season but it was not enough to save the club from the drop.

Iheanacho featured against the Hammers and assisted the opener scored by Harvey Barnes.

However, he was substituted in the 77 minute and looked dejected at full time after Leicester’s relegation was confirmed.
