European champions England are through to the next round of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, FIFAWWC, after a narrow win against Denmark.

Chelsea Women’s Lauren James was the heroine of the day as the Three Lionesses defeated the Danes 1-0 in their Group D on Friday.

James netted the only goal of the game after just six minutes to seal England’s second win in as many matches.

James shines for England

After a hard-fought win against debutants Haiti to kick off their campaign, England went head-to-head with fellow Europeans Denmark looking to consolidate. 

The Three Lionesses started on the best note when Chelsea’s superstar James gave them an early lead as she opened the scoring in the sixth minute.

The youngster was one of the standout performers for the European champions.

She played from start to finish and was a menace to the Danish defense.

James finished with three shots on target, four dribbles completed, 71 touches and a pass accuracy of 89 per cent.
