Kenya Cup: Kabras & KCB assert authority with bonus point wins to close 2023 on a high
Holders Kabras Sugar and KCB maintained their perfect start to the Kenya Cup season as they bagged bonus point wins to close 2023 on a high.
In the last 2023 Kenya Cup matches, Kabras thrashed Catholic Monks 78-0 in Kakamega while KCB put Homeboyz to the sword, demolishing the Deejays 77-10 in Nairobi.
The wins earned the two sides bonus point victories and they are sure to remain in the top two heading into the new year, having each accumulated 10 points from two matches.
KCB and Kabras appear the teams to beat yet again this season given the manner in which they have started their campaign and it will take something special from their rivals to dislodge them.
Meanwhile, Kenya Harlequin were also big winners on Saturday following their 40-10 victory over Mwamba RFC at the RFUEA Grounds, a result that will lift them to third place on the table above Menengai Oilers.
Both sides were tied on 10 points before this weekend’s matches but with Oilers recording a 27-10 win over Strathmore Leos, it will not be enough to stay ahead of Harlequins.
Elsewhere, Nakuru RFC continued their struggles as they were held 19-19 by Kenyatta University’s Blak Blad and they have now won one game, drawn another, and suffered a loss.
In the early kick off, Nondescripts recorded their first win of the season when they edged the clash of the promoted boys following a 32-16 victory against Kisumu RFC.
That leaves Kisumu, Mwamba, Homeboyz and the Monks as the only teams without a win since the season started three weeks ago.
