Kamaru Usman: Nigerian Nightmare tipped to succeed in Israel Adesanya's Middleweight UFC division
Chael Sonnen believes that Kamaru Usman, the former UFC welterweight champion, may have great success if he decides to pursue a middleweight career full-time.
Since he was unable to reclaim his welterweight title at UFC 286 in London last March, Usman's future has been rather questionable.
He confronted Leon Edwards there, seven months after the Englishman's thrilling victory in Salt Lake City.
For the first time in years, "The Nigerian Nightmare" was eliminated from the title race at 170 pounds after losing to "Rocky" on the scorecards for the second fight in a row.
Kamaru Usman not sure of UFC return
After a few months, Usman abruptly changed his career path by making his middleweight debut against Khamzat Chimaev on the UFC 294 card in October of last year.
Usman was commended for his performance even though he did not raise his hand, and many have predicted that he will permanently shift to 185 pounds.
Sonnen, a past contender for the middleweight belt, believes Usman has a good shot.
Usman is still unsure of his plans and his anticipated comeback to the octagon.
