Joana Sanz, the wife of Brazilian footballer Dani Alves, has publicly confronted a troll who criticised her for flaunting her baby bump with the former Barca star who saw his rape conviction overturned.

The 33-year-old Canarian model, who revealed she is expecting her first child with the 42-year-old former Barcelona and PSG star, shared a new post on social media, prompting an unsavoury comment that she swiftly and emphatically shut down.

What Happened?

Sanz, 33, took to her Instagram page to share intimate black and white photos of her baby bump alongside her husband.

However, the post, capturing the joy of her pregnancy, was met with an uninvited comment: “My mother... there you have them as if nothing. I would be so ashamed.”

Not one to shy away from criticism, Sanz delivered a sharp retort minutes later: “Shame on you to follow me and come to make nonsense comments. If you don't like something dear, don't look at it. Easy.”

Speaking exclusively to Hola! Magazine, Joana described her "overwhelming emotions" upon hearing the news of Alves' sexual assault conviction being overturned. 

She told the outlet: “I always believed in his innocence, and that’s why I’ve always remained by his side,” reflecting on the immense emotional toll the scandal had taken.

Sanz also bravely admitted the profound impact of the media spotlight: “The media pressure has been very harsh. 

“Everything became frantic, and I feel like my time to grieve wasn’t respected. 

“My career was my lifeline amidst so much suffering, but I also felt forced to keep smiling a year after the storm.”

Despite the heartbreak and public attacks, Sanz is embracing a fresh chapter in her life, which she describes as one filled with “tears of joy and relief.”

Just days after Alves' sentence was overturned, the Canarian model took to Instagram to share the joyous news that they are expecting a baby girl. 

However, the announcement came with her revelation of a deeply personal struggle.

 Sanz tearfully shared that she had previously suffered three miscarriages.

In a touching and candid Instagram post, she explained her hesitation in sharing the news: "I didn’t want to say anything until it was more than obvious but I wanted to share it for those who are in the battle themselves."

"I’ve had to deal with questions like, 'When’s the baby due?' since I was twenty-two years old …what scary social pressure," she wrote.y

She admitted that she "never had a mother instinct, that desire to have kids or that I'd like to carry someone's baby."

Over the years, as her friends began having children and social media became "filled with births," Sanz began to re-evaluate her feelings.

She highlighted the widespread "ignorance about the reproductive age of a woman and it is not so easy to get pregnant." 

Sanz detailed her difficult journey, revealing, "Five years ago I thought of being a mother with great fear, afraid because a human being will depend on me to survive, afraid of not working, afraid of losing myself as a woman… but this is another story.

"What I came to tell you is that a healthy twenty-seven-year-old woman had two IVFs, three losses and the latest a salpingectomy added to the onset of endometriosis.

“The frustration and why 'everyone' gets pregnant like magic plagued me.

"I’m used to achieving what I set my mind to with hard work, effort and perseverance, but this doesn't go like that.”
