Jay Jay Okocha, Kanu and 16 African legends storm Zambia for Chipolopo exhibition

Nigerian icons Jay Jay Okocha and Nwankwo Kanu will lead the star-studded team to face the Chipolopo of Zambia in a charity match this weekend.

Zambia is set to welcome a host of African football greats led by Nigerian icons Austin Jay Jay Okocha, Nwankwo Kanu, and Daniel Amokachi.

The trio are expected to be in the Southern African nation this Saturday alongside 16 others ahead of an exhibition match on Saturday.

According to a report by Zambia-based Zambia Football, Okocha and his Nigerian brothers will join other greats to battle a team of Zambian legends. 

The former Bolton and Premier League dazzler, Okocha, is regarded as one of the best to ever play the game in Africa and in the World.

Okocha and his compatriots are expected to start arriving in Zambia ahead of what’s expected to be an entertaining weekend in Lusaka.

The legends will be welcomed by Zambian football hero, Kalusha Bwalya, who will lead the Chipolopo team against Okocha and other African legends.

Other Legends in Zambia

Per the report, the Nigerian icons will not be the only ones taking to the pitch on Saturday.

The former Super Eagles stars will be joined by a star-studded line that includes former Premier League stars, Emmanuel Adebayor, Asamoah Gyan, and El Hadji Diouf. 

Others who are also expected are Lucas Radebe, the South African and Leeds United legend, Patrick M’boma from Cameroon, and Siphiwe Tshabala.

Also, former Ghana skipper Stephen Appiah,  Karim Haggui,  Kwadwo Asamoah and Mark Fish will also be present in Zambia.

The exhibition match will take place at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka, with kick-off slated for 3 pm Nigerian time. The match will also be live on SuperSport.
