Injury blow for Chelsea star - Colwill ruled out of the season after ACL injury
The recent Club World Cup champions kick off their new Premier League season at Stamford Bridge against Crystal Palace on August 17th.
The 22-year-old Colwill's absence could pave the way for Chelsea's 19-year-old Dutch summer signing, Jorrel Hato, who arrived from Ajax.
Colwill's injury
Chelsea defender Colwill has given the Blues another issue following his ACL injury, as he is set to miss a large portion of the Premier League season.
Chelsea's statement reads, via Sportal, “Levi Colwill has undergone successful surgery on his anterior cruciate ligament. He returned to the Cobham training center earlier this week, but unfortunately suffered an injury during training.
"Medical examinations confirmed surgery was necessary. Levi will now begin his rehabilitation under the supervision and support of the club's medical department."
The defender last scored for Chelsea against Fulham, scoring the winning goal that clinched their Champions League spot.
