‘I’m proud of myself’ - Nigerian athlete Favour Ofili speaks on Paris 2024 Olympic performance
The athlete became the first Nigerian female to reach the 200m final since Mary Onyali's feat in 1996.
Despite her 200m record, she was omitted from the 100m event due to unforeseen reasons by the AFN.
The disappointment did not take a toll on her as she expressed her happiness at her record at the Olympics.
Ofili reflects on Olympic performance
Ofili shared a post on her official X account after her participation at the just concluded Olympic tournament.
She said, “It’s easy to feel defeated, but every setback is a setup for a comeback. I’m proud of myself, this Olympics made me realize how strong I am, and I'm grateful for the support I got from my coach, family and fans.
“Trusting God's plan and ways is the only way to heal because I know his plans for me is to give me hope and a future.
“Thank you Paris, for yet another lesson learned and thank you to everyone who has been with me along the way—this isn’t the end, it’s just another step in the story.

The Nigerian athlete claimed the experience made her stronger and she is looking forward to coming back stronger.
