Ighalo and Ronaldo: Reactions as Super Eagles and Al-Nassr stars show off swords in Saudi National Day celebrations

Super Eagles of Nigeria striker Odion Ighalo and Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo have been linked together.

Ighalo and Ronaldo who both play their professional football in Saudi Arabia have participated in the National Day celebrations.

Ronaldo has garnered media attention once more, this time for celebrating Saudi National Day.

He wore a traditional thobe (robe) and bisht (cloak) and danced alongside his Al Nassr FC colleagues while brandishing traditional swords.

The Portuguese five-time Ballon d'Or winner, who signed with Al Nassr FC for an estimated $200 million contract per year, can be seen in the video posted by the Saudi professional football team on social media platforms.

Ronaldo was in action as Al Nassr recorded a monster 2-0 win against Iranian side Persepolis in an AFC Champions League fixture played in midweek.

Ighalo on the other hand celebrated Saudi National Day in style on his official social media platforms.

The Super Eagles star posted photos wearing a Arab traditional outfit on his social media platforms.

In the photos, Ighalo is seen holding a wild bird and also shows off his sword like Ronaldo.

The reactions to Ighalo and Ronaldo wearing traditional outfits have been applauded by Saudi Arabian social media followers.

Ronaldo was hailed as an ambassador of the league while Nigerians liked the photos of Ighalo on social media.

Ighalo has continued to extend his goalscoring record in the Saudi League.

The 34-year-old Nigerian star scored the fourth goal for Al-Wehda in the 88th minute, assisted by Abdulaziz Noor as they beat Abha 4-0 in their last league fixture.

Ighalo who scored a hattrick for Al-Wehda against Damac now has five goals in the league this season.

The Nigerian striker returns to action when Al-Wehda takes on Al-Orobah in a King Cup of Champions Round of 32 fixture scheduled for Wednesday, September 27, 2023.
