The former Real Madrid midfielder reflected on his experiences with the Brazilian star, especially in the wake of recent scrutiny following Vinicius’ reaction to being substituted during El Clásico.

Kroos: “Vinicius, you’re too good. You don’t need all of this”

Kroos explained that Vinicius’ behaviour often created unnecessary tension for the team, affecting not only opponents and referees but the overall rhythm of Real Madrid in heated matches.

According to him, he repeatedly tried to calm the winger during games, urging him to stay focused and avoid emotional reactions that could swing momentum against the team.

Kroos revealed: “I often told him to stop, because it felt like the whole team was being affected by his behaviour… I told him over and over: ‘Vinicius, you’re too good. You don’t need all of this.’”

He added that there were moments where Vinicius would “lose it,” prompting teammates to intervene to keep him grounded.

Signs of maturity emerging after El Clásico incident

Despite the criticism, the Brazilian superstar has shown signs of improvement in recent weeks.

After the high-profile clash with Xabi Alonso during El Clásico, he appeared noticeably calmer in the goalless draw against Rayo Vallecano, staying composed despite hostile fan chants.

Real Madrid staff believe this new level of emotional control could be crucial in helping him rediscover his best form, as his performances over the past year have fluctuated.

While the last 12 to 18 months have been challenging for Vinicius, particularly in terms of consistency, the club remains confident.

If he continues on this path of maturity, just as Kroos hopes, Real Madrid could soon see their explosive No.7 return to his peak.
