High Court dismisses Kelvin Kiptum’s alleged ‘baby mama’ who sought to stop his burial
The High Court has declined to halt world marathon record holder Kelvin Kiptum’s burial following an application by a woman who claimed to have a child with the departed athlete.
According to Nation, the woman had sought the court’s innervation, claiming to be Kiptum’s lover and the mother of his child who is aged one year and seven months.
In her application at the High Court in Eldoret, the woman had sought to have Kiptum’s burial stopped pending the hearing and determination of a case in which she is seeking to have herself and her baby recognised as beneficiaries of the marathon great’s estate.
The court did not, however, grant her prayers, allowing the final journey of the world beating athlete to continue without interruption.
Kiptum, who is survived by a wife and two children, died through a road accident that also claimed the life of his coach Gervais Hakizimana on February 11.
The marathoner will be laid to rest at his Naiberi farm in Uasin Gishu county on Friday.
