Isak back in Tyneside

The former Real Sociedad striker returned to Newcastle's facilities today in Tyneside after he had been training at his former club's grounds in Spain.

Isak missed Newcastle's preseason training tour in Asia, with the official reason being a minor thigh injury. However, reports have suggested that his proposed move to Liverpool was the actual reason.

Those claims were substantiated after Isak began training in Spain and officially handed in a transfer request to the club, which led Eddie Howe to draw a line in the sand.

What Eddie Howe said

The former Bournemouth manager stated clearly that Isak’s reintegration into the squad will not come easily and that he will have to earn it.

“You have to earn the right to train with us,” he said, per the Sun.  "We are Newcastle United. The player has a responsibility here to be part of a team and part of a squad – you have to act in the right way. So that is also at play here.

"We will make sure that any player does that to earn the right to train with the group.”
