Naibos were hosting K’Ogalo who needed to win to be certain of ending the year at the top of the table and all was going well until the 58th minute when chaos erupted shortly after the home side equalised.

Gor Mahia had broken the deadlock after 15 minutes following a well-taken goal from Ebenezer Adukwaw. It was K’Ogalo’s West African connection combining for the goal as Adukwaw, unmarked in the box, expertly met with a great delivery from a corner taken by his Ghanaian compatriot Enock Morrison.

Ovella Ochieng’s Goal Sparks Brawl

Adukwaw nearly made it 2-0 in the 40th minute when he chested the ball and unleashed a low shot that was headed for the net with only a goal-line clearance from Enock Sugut saving the home side from going two goals behind.

After the break, Ovella Ochieng unleashed a shot that stung Gor Mahia goalkeeper Byrne Omondi’s palms as he punched it out for a corner and in the 57th minute, the K’Ogalo shot-stopper could do nothing to stop the former Kariobangi Sharks and AFC Leopards attacker.

Ochieng beat Gor Mahia left-back Bryton Onyona for pace and unleashed an unstoppable shot from a tight angle which Omondi could only watch as it sailed into the net and after that goal, hell broke loose.

Fighting Between Fans Leads to Injuries

A fist-fight ensued between the two sets of supporters in the stands while objects were thrown on the pitch, forcing the referee to stop the game for the players’ safety. The players and match officials were whisked to the dressing room while fans continued fighting.

Kicks and blows were witnessed while the opposing fans hurled objects at each other with police using teargas to disperse the crowd. Some fans would sustain injuries following the chaotic scene.

It is still not certain what led to the chaotic scenes but the match was abandoned in the 58th minute when both teams were tied 1-1 and it is now up to the Football Kenya Federation Leagues and Competitions Committee to decide its fate.
