Grateful Spintex Knights arrive Ghana ‘safe and sound’

Ghana’s Spintex Knights have safely arrived in their home country following an excellent outing in Nigeria.

The Knights were in Nigeria as the only invited team to take part in the inaugural edition of the Louis Edem Basketball Championship.

Spintex were one of ten teams who battled for the grand prize of N2 million but unfortunately came short in the final.

Having proven worthy of their invitation to the championship, the Nobles have returned home to their fans in Ghana.

According to a source at the club, the Knight touched down on Monday ‘safe and sound.’

However, the source added that it wasn't a straightforward trip as the Knights were delayed at the border but eventually made it through.

Following their safe arrival in Ghana, the club issued a statement to thank the organisers of the event and everyone who supported them during their stay in Nigeria.

"Our hearts are full of gratitude to the Louis Edem Foundation, our supporters, and everyone who rooted for us in the Championship," the club said in a tweet.

"Although we came out 2nd, we are winners in your eyes and that means everything. Thank you!"

Spintex proved to be an exciting team to watch throughout their stay in Nigeria during the Louis Edem Championship.

It was a case of one jollof war to another as they won two of their four matches in the group stage.

But they needed a favour from Unilag to sneak into the last four where they produced their best performance to see off Lagos Legends to reach the final.

In the final, they came up against Nigerian champions, Kwara Falcons, who were too hot for the gallant Ghanaians in the end.

Falcons, who are BAL-bound, sealed a 65-57 win to ensure the N2 million grand prize remained in Nigeria while Spintex received N1 million for their efforts.
