Gor Mahia Gate Collections Drop by Hundreds of Thousands in 4-1 Defeat to APS Bomet
Gor Mahia endured a miserable Tuesday evening at Nyayo National Stadium as they suffered setbacks both competitively and financially during their rearranged fixture against FKF Premier League newcomers APS Bomet.
Only days after an encouraging display against Tusker FC, K’Ogalo found themselves on the opposite end of fortune.
The club generated a modest KSh360,400 from gate takings—an enormous drop from the KSh872,300 collected during their previous outing.
The KSh466,900 shortfall represents their second-lowest match-day income in half a year, with only the KSh160,600 made against FC Talanta ranking worse. It also marks the seventh occasion since the adoption of online ticketing in April that Gor Mahia have failed to surpass the one-million-shilling mark.
The financial hit was troubling enough, but the events on the pitch delivered an even heavier blow. Gor Mahia collapsed to a stunning 4–1 defeat, their most humiliating result of the current campaign and their worst since a 3–0 loss to Posta Rangers four years ago.
What Happened During the Clash?
APS Bomet, who have struggled for consistency this season, were ruthless in their execution. Hansel Ochieng produced a masterclass, netting the first hat-trick of the 2025/26 FKF Premier League season, with Rodgers Kipkemoi adding a late fourth to complete a famous victory for the newly-promoted side.
The victory comes as a huge morale booster for APS Bomet. A month on from their win over Kariobangi Sharks, this result becomes only their second triumph of the season and lifts them off the foot of the table into 17th place with eight points.
What Next For Gor Mahia?
For Gor Mahia, the defeat came at the worst possible moment. Instead of extending their lead at the top to four points, they remain stuck on 19 points, holding a narrow one-point advantage over Kakamega Homeboyz.
It is also the second defeat suffered under head coach Charles Akonnor, the first arriving in the season-opening fixture against Bidco United two months prior.
A sobering night for the champions—both in performance and in finances—and one that leaves them with serious concerns to address in the weeks ahead.
