Gor Mahia failed to take full advantage of AFC Leopards loss to Kenya Police on Saturday when they could only play out a goalless draw against Bandari FC at Kasarani Stadium on Sunday.

K’Ogalo, who could have opened up a five-point lead over second-placed Leopards with a win, ended up picking up just a point against a stubborn Bandari to leave them with three points more than Ingwe ahead of next Sunday’s Mashemeji derby.

There were few chances from the hosts with Jackson Dwang coming close in the first half when his effort sailed just inches wide.

Ghanaian midfielder Ebenezer Adu-Kwaw also had an opportunity just past the hour mark after a well floated ball in the box from Sharrif Musa but he was closed down as he attempted to dribble past his markers.

Mashemeji Derby to Shape Title Race

Bandari also had half-chances early in the contest through Abdallah Hassan and Darius Msagha but could not utilise as the two sides foiled each other.

In the end, it was shared spoils which leaves Gor Mahia on 58 points from 28 games with Leopards on 55 ahead of next Sunday’s Mashemeji Derby which will likely shape the title race in the final five games of the season.

A win for Gor Mahia in the derby will see them open up a six-point gap while Leopards can move level on points with K’Ogalo if they secure maximum points.

Meanwhile, Gor Mahia also reported an incident of theft in their dressing room during the match.

“Unfortunate incident happened when the first half was on... thieves broke into the dressing room, stealing phones and valuables belonging to our players and technical staff,” the club said via a social media update.
