Gor Mahia Coach Reads Malice Into Tusker’s Decision to Host K’Ogalo in Mwea After Costly Defeat
Gor Mahia assistant coach Kobi Bismarck Mensah has slammed Tusker over what he thinks was an ill intention to take their game to Mwea on Tuesday.
Tusker hosted Gor Mahia at Wang’uru Stadium in Mwea, Kirinyanga County and won the game 1-0, thanks to Ibrahim Joshua’ss goal to put a major dent in K’Ogalo’s quest for the FKF Premier League title.
Mensah took issue with the decision by Tusker, who train in Nairobi, to take their match to Mwea where the playing surface was not in great conditions.
“This is the Premier League, highest level in this country and the club licensing board, they shouldn’t approve this kind of field,” an angry Mensah told the media.
“There are a lot of bad tactics around these games. I am not the one to decide for the home team but the truth is that the club licensing board should not approve that kind of field.”

The Gor Mahia coach thinks his team could have had a better chance of winning in a better environment but feels the brewers intentionally took the game out of Nairobi knowing full well what K’Ogalo would be subjected to.
“Tusker train at Kasarani so if it is not bad intention, why do you bring your home game here?” he posed.
“We need to think about the players and development of the game. And again, we are selling a product we want investors to come into our game and we need to brand a product very well.
“This is a live game but go and see the net behind the goal, everything is bad. At the end of the day, it affected both teams. I did not see any good football and supporters did not see any good football.”
Did Tusker Do It Intentionally?
Mensah’s concerns were also shared by his boss Charles Akonnor, however, who remains confident that his team will not throw away their title advantage.
“The field of play was bad and I don’t want to complain but why this game brought here I don’t know,” Akonnor told Azam TV.
“We have lost, we want to take it in good faith, go back home and plan for our next match. It has been difficult to come here and play. The style of play is not us but honestly, even with that, we created chances to score and I think we had a penalty which the referee refused to give us.”
Defeat left K’Ogalo on 57 points from 27 games, two ahead of AFC Leopards, who have also played the same number of matches, blowing the title race wide open.
