Finidi George laments refereeing decisions, but stays upbeat after Enyimba's 'fair' draw with Sunshine

Enyimba coach Finidi George has expressed his displeasure with the officiating during his team's 1-1 draw against Sunshine Stars in the NPFL.

Enyimba came from behind to claim a share of the points at the Akure Stadium, with Chidiebere Nnachi's 71st-minute equaliser cancelling out Promise Awosanmi's opener for the home side.

Finidi was not entirely satisfied with the performance of the NPFL match officials and made his feelings known after the clash. 

 "I can't be sure from where was standing,” the Super Eagles interim boss stated. “I couldn't see but there were calls I felt were too cheap.”

“This is men's football. So, I didn't like some of the calls but at the end of the day this is what it entails."

The former Nigeria international acknowledged that emotions can run high when coaches are desperate for their teams to win, but he ultimately expressed satisfaction with the point gained against Sunshine Stars.

"Sometimes you get emotional because you want your team to win. But i am happy with the point (against Sunshine) on the whole and we will build on it," Finidi said.

The draw leaves Enyimba in second place on the NPFL table, two points behind leaders Rangers International of Enugu, who also dropped points in their recent fixture.

Finidi's comments highlight the ongoing challenges faced by coaches in the Nigerian top flight, where officiating decisions can often be a source of contention.

As Enyimba look to maintain their push for the title, the experienced tactician will be hoping for more consistent and fair refereeing in the matches ahead.
