Ex-Barcelona and Chelsea star picks Osimmhen over Premier League’s most expensive striker
Former Barcelona and Chelsea winger Ricardo Quaresma has praised Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen, boldly ranking him above several Premier League stars in a recent viral “pick one” challenge.
The Porto legend’s choices have sparked conversation across social media, after consistently backing Osimhen over some of Europe’s biggest names.
Quaresma repeatedly chooses Osimhen over Premier League stars
During the challenge, Quaresma was asked to select his preferred striker in a series of one-on-one comparisons.
Even when faced with Liverpool’s attacking duo of Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike, Quaresma stood firm in favour of the Super Eagles star.
The only player he ranked higher was Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martínez. Quaresma later admitted that personal bias influenced his decisions when choosing Cristiano Ronaldo and Erling Haaland as his ultimate picks.
Osimhen shining brighter than Premier League’s elite
While Liverpool and Arsenal opted for other options last summer, Osimhen has continued his spectacular rise at Galatasaray.
The Nigerian striker has already scored six goals in three Champions League matches, including against Liverpool, Ajax, and Bodø/Glimt, making him the highest-scoring Nigerian in the competition’s history.
His blistering form now sees him ahead of Haaland, Mbappé, and Kane in this season’s goal charts, proving Quaresma’s admiration may not be misplaced after all.
Ahead of Nigeria’s crucial World Cup qualifier against Gabon, fans of the Super Eagles will hope that Osimhen carries his fine scoring form at club level over to the national team.
