Garnacho, 20, was a driving force for United throughout the Europa League campaign, delivering crucial goals and assists that propelled the team to the final in Bilbao.

However, when it mattered most, manager Ruben Amorim left the Argentine forward, who has been eyeing the Champions League, on the bench, opting to start Mason Mount instead.

Garnacho made his feelings clear in a post-match interview, as posted by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on X, formerly Twitter.

Alejandro Garnacho was disappointed he did not start the final against Tottenham.

“Until the final, I played every round helping the team… then the final arrives and I play 20 minutes?! I don’t know.”

He added, reflecting on a turbulent season for both club and player:

“The final, the season, the whole situation of the club… I will try to enjoy the summer, and then we will see what happens.”

The controversy didn’t end with Garnacho’s comments. A screenshot circulating on social media showed Garnacho’s brother also questioning Amorim’s decision, suggesting the manager had “thrown him under the bus” after choosing Mount over the in-form youngster for the biggest game of the season.

United fans, already reeling from the 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, have been quick to back Garnacho, with many questioning the tactical choices that saw one of the team’s brightest talents sidelined until late in the match.

Ruben Amorim, who took over from Erik ten Hag in October, is now facing scrutiny not only for the loss but for his selection decisions.

When pressed post-match about his choice, Amorim offered little explanation, further fueling speculation about unrest within the squad.

As United look to regroup after a disappointing season, Garnacho’s future at Old Trafford could come into focus.

Garnacho could leave Man United this summer after his outburst.

His comments hint at uncertainty, and with interest from top clubs across Europe, the summer could bring fresh questions about his role and prospects under Amorim.

For now, Garnacho says he will try to enjoy the summer, but his pointed comments ensure that the debate over United’s final lineup and the treatment of their young star will continue long after the final whistle.
