Erik ten Hag dismisses Benzema signing for Man Utd amidst FFP and Martial injury concerns

Erik ten Hag, the Manchester United manager, has made it clear that there's "no room" at the club for new strikers in the January transfer window. This declaration comes amidst speculation linking Karim Benzema with a move to Old Trafford and Anthony Martial's injury woes.

Ten Hag, addressing the media, emphasised the financial constraints Manchester United is currently facing, citing Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations as a key hurdle. 

With Martial sidelined due to a groin injury, questions about bolstering the striker position have been rampant. However, Ten Hag stated, "I looked but there is no space. There is no space for FFP to do something about this lack of quantity in the striker position." 

This statement sheds light on the club's approach to the ongoing transfer market, indicating a focus on fiscal responsibility and adherence to FFP rules.

The situation at Manchester United reflects a broader trend in football, where clubs are increasingly mindful of FFP regulations. Recent developments, such as the points deduction faced by Everton and the charges against Manchester City, highlight the impact of FFP on club operations.
