Double honour as City of Dallas declares November 10 Sha'Carri Richardson Day

The world's fastest woman is still reaping the fruits of a successful 2023 season as the City of Dallas has officially proclaimed November 10 the Sha'Carri Richardson Day in Dallas.

This declaration was announced at the ceremony organised to name the track at the John Kincaide Stadium in Dallas, Texas as the Sha'Carri Richardson Track, by Dallas Independent School District (ISD) Board of Trustees.

The Dallas ISD unanimously voted to name the track in one of their stadiums after the world champion for her exploits this season.

Richardson, a native of Dallas, won the women's 100m world title at the World Championships in Budapest, clocking a blistering Championship Record (CR) of 10.65s. She also claimed the 200m bronze medal in a lifetime best of 21.92s and anchored USA's 4x100m relay team to a record gold medal.

Her record-breaking performances in Budapest were just the icing on the cake, as she had been brilliant through the season, clocked most of the fastest 100m times in the world, and barely lost a race in the event.

Off-track, Richardson's impact and influence were unmatchable, with her leading the pace of the world's most marketable and influential female track and field athlete.

"This means so much if you from the city, you know the stadium is rooted in memories. I’m literally speechless," wrote Richardson on her X page as her first reaction to the news of having a track in her name.
