Debut for Jordan Obita in Hibernian’s opening league match in Scotland

English-born Ugandan left-back Jordan Obita made his debut for Hibernian in their 3-2 opening 3-2 loss to St. Mirren in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday evening.

Obita, who moved to Scotland from English League One side Wycombe Wanderers, was handed his debut in the 29th minute to replace Allan Delferriere.

By the time of his introduction, Hibernian were trailing 2-0 to goals from Toyosi Olusanya and Mark O’Hara.

Obita steadied the ship as Adam Fondre and Christian Doidge pulled back the two goals in the 77th and 82nd minute but succumbed to a last-minute strike to lose the match at their Easter Road stadium.

Obita has also played in the English ranks for Reading, Barnet, Gillingham, Portsmouth, Oldham Athletic, and Oxford United.

He has played for the English under-18, under-19 and under-20.
