Cole Palmer celebrates Chelsea landmark after starring role vs Nottm/Forest
Cole Palmer celebrated his 50th Premier League appearance in style by producing a starring display to help Chelsea overcome a scare against Nottingham Forest.
The 22-year-old was at the heart of the action again for the Blues, creating a game-high five chances and weighing in with an assist as they eventually prevailed 3-2 at the City Ground on Saturday.
Cole Palmer’s Chelsea Milestone
Palmer teed up Mykhaylo Mudryk for Chelsea's crucial early opener in a game that saw the hosts push the Blues to their limits before Nicolas Jackson’s late winner.
It kept the Blues firmly in the hunt for a European spot, with Palmer once again proving instrumental in their push for continental qualification.
The young English forward has enjoyed a breakout campaign at Stamford Bridge following his summer arrival from Manchester City.
Palmer's goal involvement of 31 (21 goals, 10 assists) is hugely impressive for a debut Premier League season for a player of his age.
His performance was all the more remarkable given it came on the day he chalked up a half-century of top-flight appearances.
Palmer's pace, trickery and direct running caused Forest's backline problems all afternoon, in keeping with his showings throughout an eye-catching first year in west London.
It's easy to forget he is still only 22, with so many more years ahead of him to continue developing his undoubted potential.
The former Man City academy star seems to be revelling in his role as the creative fulcrum in Chelsea's attack, with plenty more milestones surely to come.
