Coach Kimani breaks silence after getting the boot from the coast

Former Bandari FC Coach, Anthony “Modo" Kimani has reacted to being sacked by the FKF Premier League side following a shock 3-0 drubbing by AFC Leopards in the Mozzart Bet Cup quarter finals.

In a statement seen by Pulse Sports Kenya, Kimani revealed he had no hard feelings for the decision made by the Bandari board to sack him and was “grateful for the opportunity” he was given to coach the side.

“Even though our time working together has come to an end, I will be forever grateful for the opportunity and the support you gave me,” the statement read.

“I will always look back on this experience with a lot of fondness. I wish this team success in the remaining matches and subsequent seasons.”

Kimani further thanked the whole Bandari fraternity for their unwavering support of him during his time as manager.

“ I would like to extend my gratitude to Bandari FC Patron, Capt. William Ruto, Chairman Eng. Samatta, V. Chairman Osero,CEO, Edward,the entire board of trustees, players, T.B members and fans.”

Kimani had been in charge of the team for the last two seasons, having been handed the role after the sacking of his predecessor Andre Cassa Mbungo. He had been Mbungo’s assistant before taking over the job permanently.

However, he has had an up and down run with the team. Having been able to resuscitate it following a poor start to the season, fortunes seemed to be going against the former Mathare United captain in the last few matches.

Bandari are currently placed sixth in the standings with 40 points, a massive 19 adrift leaders Gor Mahia.
