Chido Obi: Nigerian-born star says goodbye to Arsenal, tipped to sign for Manchester United

Chido Obi-Martin, a player of Nigerian heritage, has officially left Arsenal, fueling strong rumors that he would join Manchester United.

16-year-old Obi-Martin scored 32 goals in 19 games last season while playing for Arsenal's under-18 team.

For Arsenal's under-16 team, he even scored ten goals in a single game. Now, he has the opportunity to join Manchester United, the top under-18 team in the nation.

Chido Obi-Martin was being pursued by Arsenal, but it was evident a few weeks ago that their efforts were failing.

The Athletic then revealed that Manchester United was investigating a deal with Obi-Martin after he visited Carrington.

With a brief note, Obi-Martin who recently featured for Denmark has now officially announced his departure from Arsenal.

He wrote on Instagram: “I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone at Arsenal for the past four years.

"The experiences and growth I've achieved here have been truly invaluable.

"A special thanks to the coaches, staff, and teammates at Hale End, the memories made will always be remembered.

"Thank you once again for this journey. I wish everyone continued success and all the best in the future."

Obi-Martin will now decide how he wants to proceed, and he anticipated communicating soon.

Leading the race to sign him is United, with technical director Jason Wilcox having a major influence.

Rasmus Hojlund has been praised by Obi-Martin in the past as his inspiration, and the young player may soon be playing with him.

Despite his youth, Obi-Martin possesses a great deal of potential, thus it is possible that he may have immediate access to the Manchester United starting lineup.

Obi trending a few months back with he scored seven goals as Arsenal's under-18 team defeated Norwich City 9-0.
