Chelsea's leadership has convened an emergency meeting to determine the future of head coach Enzo Maresca, with his departure from Stamford Bridge now appearing imminent.

The club's hierarchy is reportedly engaged in exit negotiations with the Italian manager today. This development follows a dismal run of form that has seen the Blues secure just one victory in their last seven Premier League matches.

This poor spell has left Chelsea languishing 15 points behind league leaders Arsenal and only five points clear of Brighton in 14th place.

The pressure mounted after a 2-2 draw with Bournemouth just before the New Year, a match after which Enzo Maresca was absent from his media duties due to illness.

Ironically, Enzo Maresca was named the Premier League Manager of the Month for November. However, his position became precarious following a win against Everton on December 13th, when he appeared to criticise the club's hierarchy.

"The 48 hours leading up to the game were the worst since I joined the club, because many people didn’t support us," he stated at the time.

Enzo Maresca Feeling Unwell

Reports have since emerged suggesting a two-week breakdown in communication between Enzo Maresca and the club's board, leading the manager to consider his position.

While Enzo Maresca has been linked as a potential successor to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, his immediate future at Chelsea is in serious doubt.

Following the recent draw against Bournemouth, assistant coach Willy Caballero stepped in for the post-match press conference.

"Enzo isn't feeling well," Caballero explained. "He didn't feel well the last two days, but still made training and made the game today. I took his position just to clarify that he isn't feeling well enough to do the rest of the stuff that the manager has to do."

A final decision on Enzo Maresca's tenure is expected shortly. Among the potential candidates to replace him, Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior is reportedly considered a front-runner for the Stamford Bridge job.
