British-born Nigerian who wants to play for Super Eagles returns with a bang
Elijah Adebayo celebrated his return to Luton Town starting eleven in style after helping the Hatters salvage a point at home to Everton.
Pulse Sports Nigeria reports that the giant striker who is eligible for the Super Eagles netted the decisive equaliser to help Luton avoid defeat at home following a 1-1 draw against the Toffees on Friday night.
Nigerian giant saves Hatters
Luton missed a big chance to move out of relegation waters for the first time in a long while after failing to make advantage count against Sean Dyche’s men.
In what was an evenly posed match, it was Everton who started on the front foot when star forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin fired them ahead after 24 minutes from the spot.
But that goal only lasted seven minutes before Nigeria’s Adebayo’s low drive strike leveled the game for the home side.
In what was his first start since February and second for the Hatters following his return a long layoff, the 26-year-old showed what Luton had missed for months.
Adebayo has now scored 10 goals this season for Luton and with three more games to go, the Hatters and their fans will be happy to have the giant Nigerian striker back and firing.
Luton currently sit 18th on the table with 26 points, the same as 17th-placed Nottingham Forest, who have Nigerian duo Taiwo Awoniyi and Ola Aina on their payroll.
Adebayo featured for 80 minutes before he was subbed off after his tenth goal in just 14th starts this season in the Premier League.
