Although Bryan Mbeumo reportedly favours a move to Old Trafford over interest from Tottenham, other transfer activity could complicate matters.

Nottingham Forest have submitted a new bid for Mbeumo's teammate Yoanne Wissa, according to The Athletic. Wissa is set to become a replacement for Anthony Elanga, who is expected to join Newcastle in the coming days.

Should Wissa depart for the City Ground, Brentford might raise their asking price for Mbeumo. This could force United to accelerate negotiations to secure a deal quickly.

Brentford's director of football, Phil Giles, recently downplayed rumours of an imminent transfer. As quoted by Sky Sports, Giles admitted that there was significant interest in Bryan Mbeumo and noted that his preference had been widely publicised.

He added that, from their understanding, Bryan Mbeumo was also willing to stay at Brentford next year if necessary. He noted that if the right offer came in, a deal could potentially be made, but acknowledged there was only so much they could say on the matter.

“Let’s see on that. I think our position is that he had an unbelievable season last season, and we expected interest in him. If that deal’s right, there’s a deal to do; if not, then he stays,” Phil Giles said.

“We’ve spoken to Bryan and his representatives. It’s not a given that he’s going to depart this summer. There is interest. He had a great season last season, so it’s inevitable there’s going to be interest in him.”

Bryan Mbeumo, 25, enjoyed a stellar season for Brentford, scoring 20 goals in all competitions. He has just one year remaining on his current contract.
