Brennan Johnson leaves Wales squad due to injury

Brennan Johnson, 21, made his Wales debut in November 2020 and has been a constant figure in the squad since that time.

 Johnson was selected for the Wales squad on March 14 and was expected to play a pivotal role. 

However, the Nottingham Forest star will now miss out on crucial fixtures against Croatia and Latvia as he tries to recover from a groin problem. 

Johnson will be a huge miss for Wales considering his rising profile in the national team. He is one of the stars of the team in the aftermath of Gareth Bale’s decision to hang up his boots. 

Johnson really came into his own, enjoying a breakthrough season with Nottingham Forest during the 2021-22 Championship campaign where his 16 goals and nine assists helped the club seal promotion to the Premier League.

He is Nottingham Forest’s top scorer this season with nine goals and two assists in all competitions as the team battles to remain in the Premier League.

Johnson made three appearances at the World Cup in Qatar and has three goals in 18 appearances for the national team.
