Boniface, who has been sidelined since January after departing the Super Eagles camp during the 2023 AFCON due to a knee issue, underwent surgery and was initially expected to face a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

However, the 23-year-old has been relentlessly working on his recovery, evident from his recent social media post showcasing his gym dedication.

The Nigerian forward was pivotal in Bayer Leverkusen's remarkable unbeaten run of 34 matches across various competitions before his injury setback.

With 10 goals and seven assists in the league alone, along with four goals and an assist in the Europa League, Boniface's absence has been felt keenly both domestically and internationally, as Nigeria reached the final of the 2023 AFCON without the talismanic striker.

Despite his absence, Leverkusen has continued their impressive form in the Bundesliga, currently sitting ten points clear of reigning champions Bayern Munich in the race for the title.

The imminent return of Boniface, however, could provide a significant boost to Bayer’s aspirations, with his impressive attacking ability set to bolster their offensive capabilities.
