The Red Devils have struggled for form again this season with coach Ruben Amorim coming under a lot of pressure and scrutiny as the poor run of last season has extended to this term.

United have won back-to-back Premier League games for the first time in one year following victories against Sunderland and Liverpool but their displays have not been convincing.

This is because of their shaky defence and lack of athleticism, power and bite in central midfield, where Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro, the two players preferred there by Amorim, have been struggling.

Who Would Be the Ideal Man United Signing?

McCarthy says central midfield is the area that needs addressing the most and he has identified the one player he feels will cure all those problems for the Red Devils.

“I think Carlos Baleba from Brighton,” McCarthy told Best Betting Sites about the Cameroon midfielder, who has been linked to United since the summer.

“I think United needs more muscle. They need legs. They need power. And Baleba would be perfect. Alongside Kobbie [Mainoo], Casemiro, he’d be ideal with either of them. With Mainoo, both of them are so young, the future could not get any brighter. That would be my ideal,” he added.

Baleba was the subject of interest from United in the summer transfer window with Old Trafford chiefs reportedly willing to pay a fee close to £100 million but Brighton and Hove Albion would not entertain any bids for one of their key players.

Red Devils Told to Quickly Find Casemiro’s Replacement

However, his form has been less than impressive since the season started, with reports claiming the transfer speculation distracted him and McCarthy maintains United must do everything to secure the midfielder as it is risky to depend on 33-year-old Casemiro.

“They need explosiveness,” he added. “They need a beast in that midfield because Casimiro is now past his best.”

“He’s aging, so the club needs to start thinking about life after Casimiro, when he eventually leaves Man United, and then he leaves the team in capable hands.”

United will get a closer look of what they are missing, and potentially what they could get in the near future, as they host Brighton in a Premier League clash on Saturday evening.
