The Victoria Pearls are in a zone where they could easily sit back and relax, having won back-to-back competitions, home and away, but team captain Consy Aweko won’t entertain that in any way.

Aweko, who bagged the best bowler award at the Victoria Series, believes the team learnt a lot in Namibia.

And they hope to make improvements before they head to Rwanda for the Kwibuka T20 tournament next month in Rwanda.

“Namibia was a continuation from Kampala, we had to deal with jetlag,” Aweko said before adding.

“The atmosphere and losing to teams after facing them twice in less than a week, but overall, we reached the final and won.”

Aweko noted: “We have to improve on our fielding because, in Namibia, we dropped a lot of catches, misfielded, let in many boundaries, and our batting as well wasn’t good.”

“We have a strong batting order, so the batters must strengthen their best some scoring zones and favourite shots.”

The right-arm off break bowler captained the Victoria Pearls to the Victoria Series on home soil and the Capricorn Eagles Quadrangular Series in Namibia and for that, she was named the Real Stars Awards cricketer of April.

“Grateful to God and my teammates because this was a collective effort and a reward for hard work."

“I always give everything when playing, so the award will motivate me to work harder,” Aweko added.

The Victoria Pearls will be expected to play at the Kwibuka T20 tournament, which is slated for June 2023 in Kigali, Rwanda.
